New Products on the Horizon
TOPAS’ unique manufacturing technologies are facilitating the development of new COC grades with a broad range of performance benefits. These consist of elastomeric materials, advanced compounds, and resins with high temperature resistance.
Under development are polyolefin blends that combine the properties of crystalline polyolefins such as PP and PE with the stiffness and thermal properties of COCs. These blends are designed to raise the performance level of polyolefins to approach that of engineering thermoplastics.
New soft TPE-like resins featuring the exceptional purity of TOPAS COC plus the flexibility of an elastomer have been developed recently. Key market opportunities include healthcare and overmolding applications.
Advancements in catalyst and process technology are enabling the development of COC grades with glass transition temperatures of 190 °C or higher.
